About the school
Polish Supplementary School of Maria Konopnicka in Yonkers was reactivated in 1992 by the initiative of Father E. Kośnik and five families. The school offers Polish language, history and geography lessons and familiarizes students with Polish traditions and culture. Classes are held on Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00.
History
The school was established in the early 1970s as a Saturday Polish school at St. Casimir's Parish. In 1992, it was reactivated and has been operating under the patronage of Maria Konopnicka since then.
Educational offer
The school implements a curriculum for Polish diaspora schools, adapted to the needs of children learning Polish as a second language. Students can take the state exam in Polish – LOTE.
Additional activities
The school offers art classes, sports activities, and theatrical performances. Recitation competitions and academies on the occasion of Poland's Independence Day are also organized.
Parents' Committee
A Parents' Committee operates at the school, which organizes various school events such as Saint Nicholas Day, Christmas Eve, Nativity Play, and Carnival Party.
