About the School
The Polish Supplementary School of St. Hedwig in Floral Park began its operations in September 1959. The school was established at the Parish of St. Hedwig on the initiative of Engineer Leon Young and several committed parishes, who understood the importance of preserving Polish culture and language among the youngest generation of American Polonia.
Classes
Lessons take place on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The school offers classes for children from age 4 to grade 8, teaching Polish language, literature, culture, history, geography, as well as Polish traditions and customs.
Educational Programs
The school provides preparatory courses for the WORLD LANGUAGE COMPREHENSIVE EXAM IN POLISH, which gives students credits for American schools and for the Certificate Examination in Polish as a Foreign Language.
Atmosphere
A warm, family atmosphere prevails in the school. Students participate in numerous special events, competitions, and meetings with interesting people. The annual charity campaign 'AND YOU CAN BE ŚWIĘTY MIKOŁAJ' (And You Can Be Santa Claus) is a tradition aimed at helping children from Children's Homes in Poland.
