About the school
Polish Supplementary School im. Zbigniewa Herberta was founded in 2001 at the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Copiague. The school was established thanks to the efforts of people who recognized the importance of preserving Polish culture, language, and traditions among the young generation of Poles. Currently, the school offers classes for 520 students from a group of 4-year-olds to 11th grade.
History
The school began its activities with about 30 students, and this number has been steadily increasing. In 2001, the school was named after the poet Zbigniew Herbert. In 2005, the school was registered in the state department of education and received the status of an independent educational organization.
Staff
Currently, Dorota Szczech is the director of the school. The school has always found support in the pastors from the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Copiague.
